WHAT WE DO

The Classical Academies is an organization of award winning, tuition-free, certified California public charter schools serving North San Diego County since 1999. With over 3,800 K-12 students at seven campuses in Escondido, Vista, Oceanside, and online, the schools are making a tremendous impact as they reinvent public education along the 78 Corridor.

The 78 Corridor’s focus on innovation, creativity, and discovery aligns with Classical Academy’s mission of partnering with parents to inspire students to think critically, communicate effectively, and achieve excellence by providing academic options.

The Classical Academy is one of the many high-quality educational options along the Innovate 78.  Each campus offers a flexible, personalized environment that combines the best of independent study, online learning and the traditional classroom experience.

In describing the positive impact of the Classical Academy, Jed Wallace, CEO of the California Charter Schools Association, said this: "The Classical’s are the octane of the charter schools movement!"

WHY WE CHOSE THE 78 CORRIDOR

1.    Vibrant Community Partnerships. The Classical Academies annually partner with Cal State San Marcos to host Super STEM Saturday, a popular North County event that draws over 6,000 science and technology enthusiasts each year to the university campus. Additionally, our award winning robotics’ team is sponsored by local technology and manufacturing companies such as ViaSat, Meziere Enterprises, and HK Plastics. Our partnership with Escondido Compact connects students to local internships, many of them in the STEM Disciplines. We are actively engaged in North County’s chambers, service organizations, and economic development groups.

2.    Pro-Charter/Education Community.  Our local community supports a wide range of high-quality school options. Parents, voters, and local political leaders continue to support the development of quality charter schools and innovative education.

3.     Synergy and Collaboration between business and education. Each of our high school students commit to volunteering a total 150 community service hours and many of them serve companies and small businesses along the 78 Corridor.

WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS

Our blended independent study programs continue to drive changes in learning around the region.   With students learning at home, in the classroom, on field trips, and online, they are challenged to find their passion, make a local impact and use their creativity to advance the common good.  Learning now takes place any time, any pace, and any place.  This is the education of today and the preparation of tomorrow’s leaders, creators, and innovators.

Classical Academy Online - Overview

Our innovative community partners continue to engage our co-curricular educational programs.  Genentech, ViaSat, and Cal State San Marcos have all actively supported and engaged our robotics, synthetic biology, and STEM programs. The Ken Blanchard Companies assists with our student leadership development and Palomar Health continues to be actively engaged with science promotion and internship possibilities.

FIVE YEARS FROM NOW...

The Classical Academies augments the creative spirit embodied through the companies along the Innovate 78.  As we continue to reinvent public education and develop the future innovative leaders along the Corridor, we are confident the synergy between business, education, and our communities will bear fruit for the region.

With 60 million dollars in facilities purchases and remodels last year, our Strategic Plan has us building an additional high school along the coast of the 78 Corridor.  In addition, we will strengthen our online, blended, and independent study learning programs in Escondido, Vista, and Oceanside as we look to expanding into Poway and Temecula.  We are looking at growing our youth and professional leadership programs here in North County while continuing to develop Super STEM Saturday into a regional example of community collaboration and success in the STEM disciplines.
