WHAT WE DO

San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is North San Diego County’s only children’s museum, offering interactive exhibits and programs on science, art, and world cultures for children ages 0-10, and their families. In 2011 we moved into an exciting new Museum facility with 6,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space, and a 7,500 square foot Children’s Discovery Garden. We offer many play-to-learn exhibits and programs in our four focused program areas:  Experimentation (science, math, engineering), Exploration (world cultures, history), Imagination (theater arts, visual arts, music), and Discovery (outdoor space featuring gardens, environmental science, world cultures, arts). We have lots of community events like our Escondido Roots Cultural Series, KPBS Kids Workshops, World Thinking Day, Fall Family Festival, and many others.

WHY WE CHOSE THE 78 CORRIDOR

San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is proud to serve children and families in all the communities along the 78 Corridor. As the only children’s museum in North County, we provide valuable play-to-learn, hands-on educational activities in science, art, and world cultures. The 78 corridor provides a quick and accessible avenue for families to visit San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, as well as allow us to bring out our Mobile Children’s Museum exhibits and programs to schools and events in the community.

WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS

The emergence of global bio-tech companies along the 78 Corridor is putting this location on the map. Many people are relocating to this area to live closer to work. Every day we meet families that are new to Escondido and North County who are looking for opportunities to learn and play as a family. We try to do our part to ensure the 78 corridor is a great place to live, work, and play!

FIVE YEARS FROM NOW...

At the rapid pace of expansion San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum has experienced in the past three years from 15,000 to nearly 60,000 visitors (we are tracking for around 80,000 visitors in 2015) and expecting to have annual admissions exceed 100,000 people in the next five years, most likely sooner. We are also starting the process of creating our Mobile Children’s Museum that will allow us to bring our custom fabricated, hands-on educational activities and programs featuring science, art, and world cultures to thousands of children and families throughout San Diego County.

With the new collaboration of the 78 corridor communities, we think that they will continue to foster a community of economic growth by encouraging businesses to come to the 78 Corridor. With more businesses comes more infrastructure and community development. San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is excited to be a part of this growth and quality of life for children and families living in the five cities along the 78 Corridor as we provide hands-on educational activities this growing community.
