The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
For over 60 years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.
San Diego Zoo Safari Park
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is an 1,800 acre zoo in Escondido. It is one of the largest tourist attractions in San Diego County. The park houses a large array of wild and endangered animals including species from the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and Australia.
Cal State San Marcos
Founded in 1989, California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) is a new kind of university – the 20th campus to be established in the 23-campus CSU system.
Today, more than 12,000 students attend the 304-acre, state-of-the-art main campus, which is nestled in the foothills of San Marcos. CSUSM is a dynamic, community engaged university dedicated to teaching future generations via hands-on experiences, cutting-edge science and computer labs and relevant coursework with a global perspective.
California Surf Museum
Founded in 1986, California Surf Museum: The First 25 Years is a brief look at where the museum started and its growth through the past over the past two decades, showcasing some special donations, including the popular Plastic Fantastic as see on The American Pickers.
California Center of the Arts, Escondido
With a mission of bringing people together to discover, create and celebrate both the visual and performing arts, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido is the cultural center of North San Diego County.
The Center’s unique campus includes a 1,500-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theater, a contemporary art museum, art and dance studios, and a full-service conference center with meeting and banquet facilities ready to host corporate gatherings, weddings and other special life events.
The Wave Waterpark
Family-friendly waterpark located in the heart of Downtown Vista.
The park boasts a pool, a water slide, a simulated wave attraction, and a lazy river plus an area for small kids. There are cabanas available for rent, food options and many classes throughout the open months.
